Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer at Overhaul Support Services is responsible for the design and implementation of repair and overhaul processes providing high-quality, economically competitive services to customers. The Manufacturing Engineer also has a key role in improvement of current processes as well as development and introduction of new products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Time Phase Monitoring, Raw Material Planning, Material Prep and Job Staging, Inventory Control, Shipping / Receiving, Tool Inventory, Consumable & General Shop Supplies
    • Direct Support Accountability for Delivery Performance, Monthly Sales Targets, Inventory / WIP Targets
    • Act as subject matter expert in the warehousing and inventory areas.
    • Communicates with Purchasing/Suppliers/Customers as required for items such as Status requests, Shipment Claims, etc.…
    • Ensure that transactions are processed correctly and personnel are trained.
    • Maintains accurate records of materials on hand; Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
    • Performs cycle counts on inventoried items to ensure inventory values are accurate within ERP Software.
    • Manage material requirement activities and identify opportunities for cost reduction of purchased materials / supplies.
    • Establish job staging methods in association with material preparation.
    • Assist Management to ensure that capital and human resources are adequate to meet production requirements.
    • Areas of direct assistance include monthly production output targets, production personnel management, lean manufacturing and process improvement initiatives
    • Establishing inventory management practices and associated control systems.
    • Establish new internal business process to improve operating efficiency and promote continuous process improvement.
    • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, coaching, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Working knowledge of Aerospace specifications and standards
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Meets commitments, works independently, accepts accountability, handles changes, sets personal standards, stays focused under pressure, meets attendance/punctuality requirements.
  • Should have knowledge of Epicor software; Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software is required.

 

Education and/or Experience    

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year College or university; or 2 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.                             

Supervisory Responsibility

Directly supervises employees, carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
